At the Perak Association for Intellectually Disabled (PAFID), we believe that every harvest holds a story of nature's grace-and of human potential. Through our collaboration with the Semangat Maju Ipoh Sheltered Workshop, we have channeled this living, flowing energy into our Hydroponic Vegetable Farming Project.
Empowering Lives Through Sustainable Farming Hydroponics is an innovative method of cultivating fresh vegetables without soil, relying instead on systematic, clean water irrigation to produce high yields. But for our community, this project is much more than sustainable agriculture. It is an initiative designed to empower individuals with intellectual disabilities by providing them with skill-building training and meaningful employment opportunities.
Our special needs participants play a vital, hands-on role in planting, nurturing, and harvesting fresh crops like bok choy, lettuce, chili peppers, and spinach. Their direct involvement showcases their incredible dedication, fosters collaboration, and brings them joy as they actively contribute to a greener future.
Growing Forward : The Tambun Expansion What began as an R&D center two years ago has blossomed into a proven concept ready for the next level. Thanks to generous public donations and the hard work of our participants, we are expanding our farming operations to a 6.18-acre plot of land.

The kickoff for this new chapter began on December 1st, 2024, and we are eagerly anticipating our planned first harvest on May 1st, 2025.
This expansion ensures that the land is used for productive agriculture while creating a self-sustaining source of passive income to help fund PAFID's essential programs.
